Imagination

According to the girls there is one thing better than a new sewing machine and that is a sewing machine box. This box has been a plane, a bear house, a train and a doll's house and much more. It has been drawn on, thing stuck on it and the girls have played with it for hours.
I am sure I have quoted Hundertwasser before - Our illiteracy is our inability to create - and I would also add that our illiteracy is our inability to imagine. Sometimes I just wish for a clean tidy house. One where I won't break my leg just getting through the living room, but I try to remember that play is good and children creating and acting out stories is a good thing and much more important than a tidy and quiet house.

Oh I am reminded of a beautiful time in Vienna, admiring Hundertwasser's architecture and art. Sigh. It's a great quote.

I like that, a good reason for our girls to mess up the house while we sew. :>

Hee hee! I got a new overlocker this morning, and my 17mth old has had great fun climbing in and out on the box, dragging in round the room, throwing all her balls from the ball pit into it!
Who needs mass produced electonic disney crap when youve got a cardboard box eh!
......although we are huge daisy duck fans!

The sewing box sounds like a lot of fun. At least the girls are using their imaginations and creativity, just like their mum is on the sewing machine. I dont think we ever have a clean house when we have kids living in it, no matter how old they are. I think when we only live by ourselves will it be as clean as we want it to be.

I was just wondering today if I was the only one who absolutely never has a tidy house. It's been sending me insane - I think because as I have a baby to feed I spend so much time just sitting on the sofa looking at the mess! It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't look at it so much!

I think we have similar 'broods' - I have twin girls 3.5 years old and a 13 month old girl.
Imagination is very big in our house too, sometimes I can't refer to the girls by their real names they are so deep in play.
Nothing like a good box, sounds like fun, and it's definitely worth the mess.

I totally agree! The other day a friend came over and literally couldn't get in the door for the curtain house the kids had built with stools/walking sticks and blankets.... I think she was a little surprise to see such a mess, but they kids were having a grand old time!

sometimes I have to look away at what my son creates with chairs and doonas! but I agree his imagination is much more important than dirt on the doona!
