McCalls 5484

I discovered another great stretchy dress pattern recently which typically was out of print, which of course means I really, really needed it. Luckily I found a copy of McCalls 5484 on ebay which was reasonably priced.
I have some great fitted dress patterns for woven fabrics I wanted to try this winter, but they are not really practical when you are still breastfeeding, so more stretchy dresses it is.
This patterns looks a lot trickier than it is. There are only 3 pieces, back, front and sleeves. I cut the size I thought I'd be and didn't make any alterations, except to take it up an inch and it fits perfectly. It is rather low so it either needs something underneath or a safety pin (which is what I did).
I found the fabric in the bargain section at Spotlight for $2m and bought the last 2m which was perfect. I think you can make one with only 1.7-1.8m.
I can see myself making some sleeveless ones for summer.

That is a great dress! I have many similar dresses from stores, so maybe I should start making one myself!

Nice one! Looks great. I love stretch for breast feeding as well, if I can't pull it down far enough it's no good :)
