Soap

Chris took all the girls out the other day so I could try soap making. I bought some ingredients from here and used these books. It is curing now so I'll let you know in 6 weeks what it is like.
Hair update: It has been about 3 months since I used shampoo or conditioner and I don't think I'll be going back. I went to the hairdresser yesterday and she didn't mention anything was wrong with it which is kind of unusual. In the past people would always suggest products to stop it from being too oily or too dry. I am a bit worried about summer though - has anyone any suggestions about what to do after swimming - at the beach and in chlorine?

Wow, three months without shampoo - has it really gone that quickly? I remember the post you did about thinking of trying it. Well done! You could start a non shampoo revolution! Can't wait to see the soap too.

Happy soaping! (And here's a not-so-secret secret: you can try the soap after a couple of weeks, it won't burn your skin.) Can't wait to see it!

I love to make soap. It is so satisfying to cut that big hunk into bars and use it! The hardest part is waiting for it to cure. (It should be good to go in 4 weeks.)

The whole shampoo thing is amazing. Kind of makes you think that shampoo is designed to make your hair oily so that you have to use more shampoo! (Great marketing tool!)

I don't make soap, but I do know that if you buy store bought it is not cured and therefore very soft, I will buy a big batch at once and remove the wrappers and set it in the cupboard to cure, this makes it dry out and it will last longer.

I think it's so weird when you speak of summer coming up while we had our first snow today... Very odd and mysterious country you live in ^_^
