Texture

I've been slowly working on this applique quilt since last year. I used some Hawaiian quilts as my inspiration and then drew it out in Electric Quilt so the blocks were symmetrical. I used just four Kona Solids - Silver, Jade Green, Chartreuse and Storm.
After I finished the top I knew I didn't want to machine quilt it, but hand quilting is not my thing so I decided to try some crosses in matching embroidery threads. I ended up using s threads of DMC which gives a fantastic texture. I did regret this idea a couple of times, I'm not the most patient person, but the texture was definitely worth all the time it took.
And yes before you ask, the back is a bit of a hot mess (ok a lot of one), but it's going to end up hanging on a wall so it doesn't bother me at all.
