Melbourne

Another crazy week. Grace and Amelia turned 5 and then it was off to Perth again. The girls and Chris went to his parents for the weekend and I went to Melbourne to see my sister. There was much eating, great live music, lots of walking and window shopping and some puchases.
Lucky my sister's work is right near Tessuti so I popped in after dropping my bags off. So much choice, so many lovely things. It was very hard to make decisions.

These lovely skirts are Surface Art which I found at The Cat's Meow - a great little shop.

I think I tried on every pair of boots and went into every shoe shop in Melbourne. It took me two days to realise that my calves are not meant for boots ( my sisters have the same problem). So a new pair of Dr Martens it will be this winter. I did find these very cute Djano and Juliette shoes in Bunbury yesterday and they fit my strange wide feet. We collected out first bucket of walnuts yesterday. We have been hulling and I have been researching the best way to dye yarn.Rain!! The first rain we have had in out new house. It was lovely to watch it over the valley.

Now it is back to sewing for Upmarket this Sunday.

saw an ad on foxtel last night for new boots, Can't remember the details now but they were called wide top boots or something? They had a web addy so you could maybe google them. They looked fantastic and it seems to be a fairly normal problem.

Oh we have your sister market here on Sunday too - Canberra's UpMarket or Handmade Market, same thing, gorgeous, lovely. I made the badges for Justine over in Perth. Good luck this weekend, love Posie

Hope the girls had a great birthday! 5 is such a cute age:) Thanks for the reminder about the Upmarket - I will try and make it this time. UWA copped a bit of damage in the storm last night.

What a fun week, that bucket of walnuts look amazing. Lovely Sara from the blog Farmama had a post about dying yarn and I believe she dyed one lot with walnut shells? Would be worth a look to get some great ideas. Hope you have a few restful peaceful days ahead.

the shoes are gorgeous Kate. I have seen a few different places advertising wider calf boots the one I can remember having a few lovely styles is SARA they have their own website or you can get to them as part of Ezibuy. They sold very fast last winter, so check them out soon

Kate......if only you can see the boots that just arrived from Canberra. Go to www.bootsforbroads.com (maybe .au). The girls get boots custom made, they are made in Vietnam. I have not only bigger calves, but also wide feet. They show you how to take all your measurements and your boots are made to fit like a glove. I paid $250 for my knee length, custom made, the best damn shoe in the world, boot! I don't recommend people much, but these girls have got it down pat. If you want me to send you a pic of mine on, let me know. I ordered the Kerrin, and they arrived in about 2 weeks!!! Well and truly worth a look!

Kate, glad you guys survived the storms too. We were luckily enough to dodge the bail hail and had no damage to our cars or home.
I'm hanging to go to Melb for a fabric trip! I hear it's really cheap! Love Lee
