I've been planning to try a flowering snowball quilt for a while, but I couldn't quite decide on colours or fabric placement. this is where Electric Quilt is really helpful. I finally decided on some bright solids.
This was a very fun quilt to make. I don't think I'm finished with this block, there are far too many options I want to try!Thursday, June 29, 2017

Stylearc Besharl
I think I bought the Besharl jacket pattern the day I saw it. It is very similar to a RTW jacket that I have worn and worn. Plus it has pockets - always a winner. I used fabric I bought on special from Textile Traders last year. It is a knit fabric, kind of like ponte with a bit of stretch.
It was very quick and easy to make and the pieces went together perfectly. I think I see at least one more of these in my future.

Dutch Label Review
I've never been good at labelling my quilts, but this year I've been thinking it would be nice to have something small on the back of my quilts saying who made them. I'd seen lovely labels around the blogosphere from The Dutch Label Shop so when the lovely Abby contacted me a while ago asking if I wanted to try them I said yes!
The website is really easy to navigate and it is really easy to play around and design different labels. You can choose from basic woven labels (which is what I did) or adding your own logo to the labels. They also do care labels, hang tags and stock labels - so it's a bit of a one stop shop if you are making and selling clothing.
You can choose from quite a large range of sizes, colours, fonts and symbols if you opt for the basic woven labels - so they are not really basic at all.
I hand sewed these onto the backs of my quilts. I think they are the medium size which aren't too small on the back of a quilt and won't be too big on clothes. They are also fairly soft for labels and aren't itchy like some labels I have used in the past on clothes. I really like these labels and I'm glad I am finally labelling my quilts. If you would like to try some labels for yourself the Dutch Label Shop are offering a 15% discount for the next 30 days - enter the code twolittlebanshees15 at the checkout.
Full Disclosure: I received the labels from The Dutch Label Shop free of charge. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Hey Mr DJ
I have a love/hate relationship with foundation paper piecing. It does not come naturally too me and I spend a lot of time unpicking and redoing. There has been tears as I have sewn blocks, but I think this is why I love it so much. There is such a sense of achievement when I do finally finish a block.
As soon as I saw Molli Sparkle's Hey Mr DJ block I knew I needed to make it for one of my music obsessed girls. She never asks me to sew her much, but she really wants a quilt out of these blocks.
This is my test block (yes there were mistakes - the navy fabric was going the wrong way in some parts and I made myself redo those pieces). I love it. Grace loves it. We are just negotiating colour and fabric choices.Friday, June 23, 2017
Outback Wife Tunic
This tunic I made last year is worn a lot (once a week at the moment). As soon as I saw this beautiful Barkcloth by Cathi of Gertrude Made (the line is Outback Wife by Ella Blue if you are searching online for it) I knew I needed another one. It has lovely drape and was nice to sew. I hope they have more barkcloth in the works, it is great for dresses and skirts and I'm sure the remnants will end up in a quilt soon.
