Strip Savvy - Giveaway

Look what turned up, I think this box has been all over the world on the way here. To celebrate I am giving away two copies. Leave a message here telling me what is your favourite size quilt to make. I'll pick two winners the evening of Thursday 27th Western Australian time. (Yes I will post anywhere!)
If you are possibly interested in doing a QAL from the book go tell Kim at Lily Patch Quilts, she is thinking about hosting one.

Realistically I should love making bed size quilts, but I really love to make mini quilts. My sewing room walls are adorned with them :)

I prefer throw/lap sized quilts. Thanks for the chance to win this great new quilt book.

Bron @ Stop That Owl said...

Hmmm, well I love starting bed size quilts, but mini quilts and baby quilts are my favourite to finish because they get finished so much quicker!

Laura :) said...

I would love to make my son and daughter a single quilt for their rooms. Something to treasure and love :)

Taryn said...

I love making mini quilts too - they are so quick to make that you can churn them out as gifts or just use as a chance to try out a new pattern!

Carin@Ullhärvan said...

I love large quilts, at least to piece together. When it comes to quilting I like them to be as small as possible!

Sandie @ crazy'boutquilts said...

Oh fun! I like making bed size quilts~ I would love to have all the beds in my house covered with hand made quilts! :-) What a great looking book! Thanks for the chance!

Single bed quilts are my fav. They are great on the kids beds, on the lounge, in the car, draped around you at footy, on the ground when picnicking...lovely book!

My favorite is lap size…quick to make and give as gifts. Thanks for the sweet giveaway :)

I like both lap sized and baby quilts. They are just plain fun! Thank you for the opportunity to win!

Wow would love a copy of this book:) hint hint. I like to make a good size double to snuggle under in winter and watch tv with my family. Thank you:)

Catherine said...

So glad your books arrived! My favourite quilt size to make is hypothetical... I am yet to make one! I have plans, and fabric gathered, for a single bed quilt though.

I usually begin with a baby quilt and then I think about how I want that little one to feel the love that went into making their quilt for a long, long time and it begins to grow. When I give a baby quilt away it looks much more like a lap quilt... So lap sized quilts are what I love to make!

I like the Single bed size quilt, it's a good in-between useful size.

Unknown said...

Wow - I would love a copy. My favourite sized quilt is king single. That size fits all my kids beds and when they are older they can have them folded at the end of a bigger bed - that's if they want to ;)

Unknown said...

Im a bed size girl.. :)

Sew Surprising said...

Would have to be lap or throw size, lots of reasons, but I never get bored if its completed in quick smart time ;)

Unknown said...

I do love a cute little baby quilt. Oh how I love decking out a bubs rooms with all matching handmade creations! Ahhhhh.
But they grow so quickly, that I've taken to preferring to make full sized bed quilts, that will last then hopefully all the way until they are older and can be used and treasured at the same time.

Unknown said...

Hi I seem to make them around the 60 inch squarish size , big enough for the kids to make cubbys, play on floor or cover themselves, and the are about the size I can quilt it myself:)))

Unknown said...

I love making quilts in all sizes. I have made a few mini quilts and a few bigger ones to throw on the couch or over a grown up bed, but my favourite ones are the three cot-sized ones I have made for my kids. I really must get onto some bigger ones for their single beds next!

Carol said...

I prefer to make fairly large bed-sized quilts. They seem to be the most useful for my family.

Sewgirly said...

I love a generous lap quilt to curl up under on the couch, but small wall hangings give more instant gratification! Thanks, Tania

bec said...

I've made a few different sizes, but i'm definitley going to do more double sizes, then they can be shared between me, my girl and the couch! Love the new blog header, too!

Dianne W said...

I like making cot quilts, easy to start and finish and so manageable to quilt. I also like the idea of making a one of a kind, heirloom piece for a new baby!

Jan said...

I love making baby quilts as they are quick. I would be so pleased to win this new book. thanks

Plum Cox said...

What a great looking book!

I like to make lap / throw quilts that are about 4' x 6' - large enough to be useful but small enough to handle quite easily when making them!

Suzy said...

I'm glad your books turned up!
My favourite size are big cot quilts - big enough to use as a couch throw.

Copper Patch said...

So excited for you Kate - I like any size quilts but my most common make is lap sized. I think I need some minis for my sewing room though.
Your cover quilt is gorgeous!

I really must get on and make the king sized quilt that we need for our bed! I much prefer smaller, lap quilts, as they are quicker and easier to finish!!

Jamie Granbery said...

I love to make quilts for my friends who are going to be first time grandmothers. I make a diaper bag then I make a baby quilt to coordinate with the bag.

mimi k said...

I like to make quilts for beds- so bigger ones than I'd like!

Anita said...

My favorite size quilt to make is lap quilts. Big enough to take a nap under but not so big that I feel like I'm running a marathon to get finished. :) Thank you for the chance to win!

Joanne said...

I like a large lap or throw size quilt. It is easier for me to quilt on my own machine.

kinkatink said...

I like making big crib size ones, that are a good size to take up to a single bed when the child is a bit bigger. And I always use the scraps to make a tiny one for an older sibling to use for their teddy / dolly.

Andi said...

Yay Kate!! Well done you!!!!
I make big quilts! At least queen sized usually. When will I ever learn? ;-)

I love to FINISH a queen size quilt, but at the moment I am loving cushions . They are so achievable, and great gifts. So generous of you to give away this book!

Double bed quilt tops are such a good size. Not too big fro handle, but big enough to be able to snuggle under.

Margret said...

Baby size/lap size is the size I've made the most. For new baby gifts.

The O's said...

Ohh... great giveaway (thanks Retro Mummy for altering me to it!)... I love making quilts big enough to wrap up the human they are intended for, probably king single size for kids and king for adults...

Katie said...

Book looks wonderful! I really like making cot and lap-sized quilts. I love imagining the recipients -- big and little -- snuggled under them.

The Seven Seasons said...

I'm totally a lap sized quilt kind of girl. There is something so special about snuggling under the quilt with the little ones on the couch when it's cold.

Vanessa said...

Definitely lap sized quilts. Good for the lounge or thrown on the kids' beds, in the car when its cold or on the floor for babies to roll and play. Vanessa

OzKnitter said...

I haven't made one yet but have pinned some of these designs as soon as I saw them come up on Pinterest. I'm planning a cot/lap size one to start.

Sooo pretty! I must have a closer look!!! Thanks for the chance. I like to make large lap size quilts because they are the biggest quilts I can manage through my machine and still have enough room for design with lots of fabric prints.

Miggsie said...

I'm a big fan of baby quilts...given the limited amount of sewing time I have, that's the only size I have a decent chance at finishing!

Abby said...

I love baby sized quilts. They let me play and finish up pretty quick.

Anonymous said...

Lap quilts for me, I love to get them finished so I can start something new real soon. Although having been blessed with 3 grand babies in 2 years, I also love making cot quilts to wrap the newest members of our family in.

I would love this book as it would be a good start to help start me of with making my first quilt which is my goal this year.

Kelli said...

A throw size fits me best. Its not too big yet still there's enough quilt to cuddle comfortably with someone else.

Deb said...

Cot & lap size as quick to finish, offer the opportunity to try out new designs, don't cost much & make great usable gifts!

flowerpress said...

I've just finished my third baby, playmat, car and stroller sized quilt. They are quick to make and a lovely gift for new babies. I do like a nice lap quilt though...

Sisbabestitches said...

I do love a lap quilt, thought they take me ages to make, so in terms of loving a fully finished quilt, my fave is a mini, not quite as much fun to snuggle under though, lol.

Karamat said...

Congrats on the book! My favorite quilt size is lap quilts. We don't really get cold enough for bed quilts here in SE Texas, but lap quilts are great to have on the sofa to ward off a bit of the AC chill.

Rose E. Glasses said...

72x90 seem to be my favorite size quilts. I can lay them sideways on a king or long ways on a full and always top off my queen. I dunno. I guess I make a top until there is no fabric left.

I love your soft sculpture art. I am glad I stumbled into your world.

Thanks

I like making them for beds, so queen most often with some single bed sized when small people come along. We're thinking of buying a new king bed though so I'm trying to work out how to upsize all our bed quilts.

Congrats on the book!
