After a few years of searching I think I might have found it - the perfect wrap dress pattern. To be honest I haven't tried a vintage Diane von Furstenberg pattern. They are probably the ultimate in wrap dress patterns, and unless I find one cheap in an op shop it is unlikely I will try one.
Onion 2037 comes pretty close to perfect. It is really quite simple and has a great way of attaching the ties and neck binding and it doesn't gape at the front.
The only thing I might try and change is to lower the front a little so it ties a little lower.
I used some polyester (I think) jersey from the stash which was annoying to sew, but has the perfect drape for this pattern. I am not sure where it came from and has been sitting in my stash a while. I'm not really a pink person, so I haven't grabbed it out to sew with in the past. I thought I would just try it with this pattern and if it didn't work then I wouldn't have lost much, but I really like it sewn up.
I have already found some more fabric to make another one. I think that is a sign that this is a great pattern.

It's great! I am just laughing at the pattern name: snitmonster! I like where the waist & tie sit. I must try one of these Onion patterns some day. Every one you make I like :)
That's such a great pattern! I agree with Jane - I couldn't stop laughing at snitmonster. :)
Love your fabric! :) Cute but simple pattern too. Have you ever tried any of the Colette patterns (www.colettepatterns.com)? They also have a wrap dress called the Crepe. I haven't had the chance to make it yet, but I've made their Laurel pattern & liked it. I also bought their Jasmine & Rooibos patterns & am in the process of making those now. They ship pretty much worldwide, but you can also get most of their patterns as a PDF download a little cheaper & w/ no shipping if you don't mind assembling it yourself. Anyway, cute dress. I enjoy seeing your creations. :)
Hi there - this is a fabulous pattern! I agree with you though, having it tie lower down would be more flattering (you and I have the same figure. Boobs but lacking the tiny waist). I have tried 3 wrap top patterns so far and am still searching for the perfect one for me. I've made all of mine out of 100% cotton, so maybe I need to try a jersey. Thank you for posting this - I needed inspiration to find a wrap that works for me.

looks great
It looks fantastic Kate! I've been enjoying seeing you in your new creations lately. And like everyone else, I'm still giggling at snitmonster.
That really suits you Kate. Yaay to you for finding a great pattern with suitably humorous name!
