Toe Up socks
Five years later I have a pair of socks. Ridiculous considering the second one took just over a week to finish. I hadn't planned on knitting it so fast, but I really wanted to know if doing a different toe and heel would make a toe up sock that fitted my foot. The answer is yes, I love Judy's Magic Cast on and love the gusset slip stitch heel which came from Socks from the Toe Up.

Yes, yes, toe-up is the way to go! About five years ago I went on this sock-knitting kick, and churned out many pairs using variations on "Widdershins" from knitty (2006 -- the same issue that has a basic toe-up formula: http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTwiddershins.html). They're uetterly addictive! Have fun!
Great socks Kate. I havent tried toe up ones before or Judy's magic cast on but I will have to very soon. Love the color you used too.
The second sock looks just like a "real sock". I am going to have to lose my toe up cherry..
