I seem to be obsessed with crochet again. I made a blanket for my sister a few years ago and then happily put my crochet hooks away and did not think much about them. I admired what others were making, but did not feel the urge to do anything else, but after starting a granny square scarf for Evie I have a large list of things I want to make. Starting with pretty much everything in this book. The ISBN is 978472680919. I bought it from Amazon Japan, but have also seen it here.
I think the one thing that put me off was the weight of the blanket. I used 8 ply wool and it is quite heavy (and a little expensive) so I am looking for alternatives. Something that is not so heavy, preferably not acrylic and has a good range of colours. Maybe Bendigo 8 ply cotton? Does anyone have any suggestions?

The Japanese are always so good at crafting. That is a very pretty crochet blanket.
The hexagon granny squares look very enticing! Looks like a lovely book.
the bendigo 8 ply cotton is really lovely to work with and is not too weighty. don't you just love those japanese crochet books!

That blanket is gorgeous! You MUST make it!!!! x
I keep thinking that I should learn to crochet as I really love the look of the hexagonal granny square blanket and ripple blankets. Perhaps I should think of a learners project first.
Bendigo is hard to beat for value...saturday i was in 'knit' in cottesloe and jo sharp had some fabulous bargain basement wools, all different weights...limited colours though...might be worth visit or phone call..
I go through phases of wanting to crochet and then putting it away. When I see something as pretty as that hexagon blanket is inspires me all over again! Such pretty colours!
Bendigo cotton is lovely
