I can't believe I didn't have a basic A-line skirt pattern that I know fits me. Last night I took the Barcelona Skirt pattern by Amy Butler and a copy of Sew What! Skirts and drafted one.
I used some quilting fabric from Spotlight which I think would be a bit too thick for quilting, but is just perfect for skirts and sewed away. I needed a few darts at the back, changed the shape a bit and added a facing. I traced a copy onto thick non fusible interfacing.

cute! Nice work!
I admire anyone who can draft a pattern. Sew pretty!!! I've yet to find a skirt that flatters my body type/shape and I don't sew clothes so I don't wear skirts. Darn.
an essential in your wardrobe! well done. I made 2 a few weeks ago to welcome the now HOT weather!
Lovely. I have always wanted an A-line skirt pattern for myself. But alas, I rarely sew and wouldn't know where to find one to begin with , let alone alter it. Oh well - one day I'll be in humble mood and will be willing to be a complete beginner and have a stab at it.
that AB pattern is the bbase for my entire wardrobe!Great fabric:)your skirt for everyday made me think of the undies sets i had as a wee girl, wonder if they still make them?!
Those AB skirts are ADDICTIVE - be warned!!
You are clever! It looks great and I am sure will get a lot of wear
Love the skirt Kate. I have used a Simplicy pattern for and A-line skirt for years - but had to adjust it too for the perfect fit!
Clever you - I love an A-line skirt - you're the second person I have seen this week with that skirt book - maybe I should ask Santa for that one??
love it!!!
Oh what gorgeous fabric and a perfect skirt for you too. I cannot wait to see the other colors for each day!
Gorgeous! It's definitely going to be a skirt summer with the a line topping the style list. I have had so many people buying skirt fabric in the last couple of weeks. I simply have to make one too!!!
You are always so busy Kate! Great skirt, loving your Daisy Chain quilt and I have some French General fabric waiting for me to sew it too!
Is that 3/4 length? I love your way with colour - I always feel a bit old fashioned when confronted with many modern bloggers' carefree mix and matching! I am never so daring. ;)
