Finished Softies

We have had the most perfect autumn weekend here. The weather is beautiful. Mum has been up helping for the weekend so Chris and I went out last night without the girls. We were still home about 10.30, but we had a great time and it was so nice to be out doing something different.
The girls had their appointment with the speech therapist on Friday. I had been dreading it a bit, but everything seems to be ok. They were referred about 5 months ago as they were not talking that much and it took this long to get an appointment. I think they were worried that they were talking a lot to each other and they were understanding each other, therefore they really didn't have to speak a lot of English. It seems to be all right though, they have really improved in that time, they still talk in their own way to each other, but their English has improved.
Mum is out in the garden and the girls and Chris have gone to get ice-cream so I have an hour to finish some sewing.
Here are some echidnas, wombats, a giraffe and pigs I have finished in the last week or two.

All the softies look fab as usual, great fabrics.

I think it's great that you have had the girls assessed sooner rather than later. We have been down this road with our son and it's a long and frustrating one. The only advice I would give is just to keep an eye on it, in the next year. Because if they need some extra help they normally start when they are three. Good luck and I'm sure they will be fine.

Happy to hear that everything went well with the therapist. My eldest didn't really start talking in a way that we could understand until just after she turned 2 - then from 2 and 1/2 her speech improved dramatically (and now she never stops talking!). Your softies are so gorgeous - love the circle appliqués on the pigs!

Another mom here to reassure on the speech therapy front, and agreeing that you're right on target with getting the help now so that it's minor help along a big developmental leap that they are taking anyway as opposed to waiting and needing major help later on. And another softie enthusiast who's wild about your critters -- lovely work!

Those animals...!!! I REALLY admire your work. And good to nip any speech difficulties in the bud. Good on you (but yeah, getting an appointment to a specialist can be a long wait).

Love the softies, especially when you use the linen as the main body piece...I enjoy the elephants and giraffes.

Oh my... those are the cutest little baby lovies I've ever seen! My little Eliza would adore those, I'll have to try my hand at creating my own some day. Thanks for the inspiration!
