I was planning on getting started with the winter sewing this weekend, but the temperature has been in the mid 30s so I made a new summer dress instead. I have used
New Look 6775 for tunic tops a couple of times, but had not made the dress before. I wish I had made a few more at the start of summer. Such a quick simple pattern and it only took a couple of hours from cutting to finishing. I used some cotton I bought at Spotlight a few months ago. I think I would be great in some fine wool fabric for winter.
I did start some sewing for cooler weather this morning. It is made from cotton I bought at Spotlight so it it not that heavy, but will be good with long sleeved t shirts under it in winter.
The pattern is #23 from
Ottobre 4/2010. I kind of used the placket instructions from Ottobre and kind of used the instructions from the Oliver & S Jump Rope Dress. I also extended the arms and added elastic around the wrists.
Summer dresses are definitely still the go. The little top is gorgeous too..
ReplyDeleteRoll on cooler weather. I want a hot MILO!
I dont think the weather man can make up his mind, beautiful weather one day and then freezing cold the next. I adore the tunic top, so cute! I think the dress will be perfect for you too!
ReplyDeleteThese are both so beautiful! I haven't got the confidence to make clothing yet but if I did I'd certainly be trying this dress and the tops you've made before. Well done :)
ReplyDeleteoh I have been eyeing off that otto pattern, I think you have convinced me- you've done a great job
ReplyDeleteIts all about layers here at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI love that photo of your little curly haired imp...she just had mischief in her smile.
Sweetest of shirts - and as for the summery dress, I find you can seasonally justify ANYTHING with layers.
ReplyDelete(maybe not a crocheted bikini)
