Skirt

A new a-line skirt from some IKEA fabric I bought earlier this year. I love this fabric - it reminds me of boab trees. The binding at the top is some Amy Butler fabric. I probably should have cut it on the bias, instead I cut 3 inches and bound the top like a quilt.
I did the top binding and then put the zip in tucking the top of the zip into the binding. Easy and quick.
The best of the photos the girls took this morning.

I have to make myself a skirt, I don't suppose you need a pattern for yours!

  7. It does remind me of boab trees. I so need to get a good skirt pattern, my sewing room is littered with rejects! Any suggestions? I think the reality is I just need to spend a day modifying the patterns I already have!

That skirt is great. Thanks for the tip on the binding and the zip. I hope to find some time next week for sewing some clothes. Thanks for the inspiration.

  9. Great skirt! Gotta love Ikea fabric, and the binding's perfect with it.

I'm thinking I might start getting my 5yr old to take shots of me rather than seeing my arm stretching out to hold the camera back!

  14. I like it. Especially the fabric. I have some of that as curtains at my house and it reminds me of boab trees too. (Can't help but smile when I look at it. It is cheery I think. They are happy boab trees in my book!)
