More Shoes

I know I have said it before, but I love comfy shoes. These were a present from Chris for my birthday last week. Not only are they comfortable, but they have hexagons on them!

I was going to write a witty and insightful look at turning 35, but sleep did not happen last night. I can't even blame Evie. She had the best sleep she's had for months. No I was thinking about the Stitches and Craft Show in Sydney. It seems like I really am going. Everything anyone has said makes it seem like the most fun, amazing thing. I hope so because at the moment it is the scariest thing I have ever said yes to. I have been fairly anonymous and have hidden in this blog for a few years. I sew and I show things on here, but I have met very few bloggers and crafters face to face. This is definitely so far out of my comfort zone. Not to mention all the other things in my head like, getting there, staying there, sorting out the children to stay back here, making enough stuff to take etc etc.

I used to be really good at adventure, Chris and I taught all over the state, travelled for 6 months overseas with no real plan. We would change the course of our lives with a split second decision. So when the opportunity came up a few months ago (and August seemed like soooo far away) I made one of those split second decisions. If nothing else at the moment I will have some comfortable shoes to wear.

  1. Yeah, you have great shoes so it will be all good! I know going off to Sydney etc is a lot more than meeting some local bloggers, but the thought of that really freaked me out. I can honestly say I have never meet a nicer group of people and have had nothing but good experiences. I'm sure Sydney will be the same for you. I think that behind your anonymous blog you are much liked and respected ("famous" in a blog way I think!) so how could it be anything but wonderful? I would love to meet you and am now sorry that I won't be there!!! Have a great time! (Be a "big brave dog" as Chuckie from Rug Rats always says! If you don't know rug rats ignore this childish remark!)

  2. Just the cutest shoes! I sure the adrenalin will kick in and help you out with everything. Just be warned that as you get over 40 you can't keep expecting so much of your body, it will go on strike.

  3. Well done Kate! I am sure you will have a ball and how fun it will be to meet loads of different bloggers face to face! With your gorgeous range of softies and bags, your patterns etc - I am sure you will do well. Shame they don't have one in Perth!

  6. Oh good for you. I somehow feel the chances to step outside ones comfort zone become fewer with offspring and responsibility. Sometimes it's good to do something a bit scary.

  16. Well you'll certainly need to wear those cute comfy shoes. Your work is lovely, cute, pretty and I'm sure you'll be a success, outside of your comfort zone. It seems hard to take the "next step." That's me with pattern writing now. Happy Belated Birthday. Oh to be 35 again!

  17. You'll be fine at the show Kate! I'd offer to bring a bunch of people along to hang out at your stand and make you look popular but I'm pretty sure you and your ace Dr Martin's won't be needing any such assistance. I'll still pop by and say hi though.

Oh poop, we fly out of Syd on 18th!!! Wow, I was so close to meeting you on our annual trip home from NJ.
Don't worry, you are a big girl now , you will be fine, you do great work, are supa cute and have the best shoes. You continue to be a huge inspiration to me. I would never have believed it a year ago , but I can now leave my sewing out and no one touches it!!! One day soon I'll start a proper blog of my own...I may have to call mine TWo Little Ratbags.
    all the best
