I finally finished the pig and flower quilt for my niece Lyssie. I have really enjoyed finishing some long unfinished projects in the last few weeks. It always means I can think about and plan new things.
I really enjoyed not following a pattern for this quilt and designing it myself.
I had one big bit of fabric for the back, but it wasn't wide enough so I used scraps from the front to make it wider.
The machine quilting looks ok from the front (not so good from the back). It definitely improved as I went along.
Terrific quilt - the little pigs are super cute. You have inspired me to have another go at machine quilting - cause hand quilting is just soooo slow! I think I might try a cot quilt - it must be an easier size to manoeuvre.
ReplyDeleteI love it - those little pig faces are so cute and i think that the strip of scraps on the back adds a lot to it!
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!! Amazing - what wonderful work.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Kate! I really don't know how you find the time with your two littlies (think I need some tips!)

ReplyDeleteThat flower quilt is wonderfull!! What a lucky girl is your niece! It's amazing how many things you are finishing and making these days, you must have some super-energy (before the baby is born and perhaps there is less time to craft..)
ReplyDeletelove it- so cute. I agree, the stripes on the back do add to it.

Gorgeous - the pigs are very cute and you did well with the machine quilting flowers - I can't do anything past random swirls.
