Elephants and Curry

I love this little elephant. I made him from another Japanese craft book and he's made from wool felt and scraps.
He's just got 1 small problem - he is slightly unbalanced and has to rest on his trunk all the time.

Why would you live anywhere else. Cider, dinner at the cidery, riverside picnics and a bakery. I think that sums up the weekend visit from Dave and Tash.

Puppy Dog Sleepover

The girls survived their night away from the farm. Here is poor Frida waiting for one of the other dogs to move so she can steal a bed.


This is the start of feeding time, by the end everything and I mean everything was covered in spag bog and custard. Well done to Grace who seems to be able to spit her food further and further each day.

Australia Day

We've had a pretty cruisy Australia Day - it was good to have Chris home, though he went to work this afternoon. Jean came to stay for the night and Mum and Dad are staying tonight. I think they had had enough of Rolf so they brought him home. They also brought the farm dogs Agi and Frida who aren't really used to being enclosed or actually being anywhere but the farm. We went over to the cidery this afternoon and it took Frida 40 minutes to work out how to escape. She looked pretty happy with herself as she ran over to find Dad

I've been trying to finish this quilt I started when I was pregnant with the girls. I've finished the top and pinned it all and am now machine quilting it - which is becoming a bit of a nightmare.

I've made a New Years Resolution - it's not something I normally do as they are usually a bit boring (I know most people will find mine boring and ridiculous). They are always things you should do or stop doing. It was so cold down here the other day so I decided to learn how to knit a sock this year - I know I probably should make two. And you may laugh now Chris, but who will be the one sitting here with toastie toes laughing in winter.

Tomato Soup

We've been inundated with tomatoes so we are eating a lot of pasta, tomato salads and tomato soup.

Tomato Soup

butter
250g bacon - chopped
1 large onion - chopped
2 clove crushed garlic
1 kilo chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato past
1 bay leaf
750 mL stock
fresh basil

Heat the butter and gently fry the bacon, onions and garlic. Add the tomatoes, paste and bay leaf and simmer for about 5 minutes. Add the stock and bring to the boil. Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes. Remove the bay leaf and blend. Serve sprinkled with basil.

Afternoon Sleep!

The girls had an afternoon sleep! We had a phone consult with Ngala this morning and followed their suggestions and it seemed to work. The girls weren't happy at the start but they seemed to come around. I set up their little prison as they are starting to move around more and we are going to lose one soon under the couch.

So while they were asleep I took some pictures of the front of Klaralund - not sold on this jumper, but I'll keep perservering.

Screaming banshees

If this evening is anything like the last one I can probably do a great deal on two babies - still under warranty! There is only one way to describe them - screaming banshees.

Bloody Silk Mohair

Ok third time lucky - I am not going to make another mistake on this shawl - I have already started it 3 times and everything I have read about ripping Kidsilk Haze is true - it's a nightmare, but I am quite happy with how the pattern is looking. It is the Daisies shawl I found here http://www.heirloom-knitting.co.uk/free_pattern.html I am loving the colour of this - it is blushes.

This was the only time they were quiet yesterday and it didn't last long!

Home again

I can't believe that Chris' holidays are going so fast. It has been great having him home - it makes my days a lot easier and it means we can go away. Last week we went to Mum and Dad's farm to help with shearing (ok I left that bit to Chris) and then to Perth to catch up with people, Jane and Ian and the Motts and then home again.

One of the great things about living down here are that people come to visit us so this week we've had Chris' friend Jo and her parents which has been fantastic. The only downside to this is how much I have been eating. So while Chris has the girls I'm off for some exercise.

Vegie Queen and Craft Geek

I've grown something!!!! My vegie patch doesn't quite look like Jane's does, but I'm pretty happy with what I picked today.

The girls are obsessed with phones, remote controls so this was inevitable. They had to have their own playstation controllers.

Here is the geeky craft picture. I finished a cardigan for next winter for the girls. So now their are two of them (everything has to come in pairs now). And here are some bunnies I made for Christmas. I found the pattern in a strange Japanese craft book.
Things I have just learnt: don't try and update your blog after a lot of wine. This simple little thing has taken over an hour. So any spelling mistakes are now Chris' fault as he had to proof read it.
